Katja Leibenath: Genius Loci

Referring to the endemic spirit of a location, Genius Loci is a collection of paintings of the China Basin neighborhood of San Francisco. These richly colored paintings of shipyards are layered with drips, echoing the rust and patina of the space.

An online exhibition of abstract paintings
Like a lazy Rorschach test, it is fun to watch the passing clouds and assign meaning and stories to their shapes. Similarly, each of these abstract paintings open themselves to interpretations while still holding the artists intent.
